The College of Sciences (CS) keeps vitalizing its departments and institutes. The Department of Chemistry has been approved by the Ministry of Education to change the names of its two divisions starting from the 2003 academic year. While the Department of Mathematics has also applied to change one of its division names to Division of Data Science and Mathematical Statistics starting from the 2004 academic year.

CHEN TING-KO HOPES TO UPGRADE STUDENTS’ ‘READING ATIMOSPHERE’ IN COLLEGE OF MANAGEMENT

Prof. Chen Ting-ko, Dean of College of Management, said that in order to strengthen and upgrade faculty and students’ capability of “research and reading”, each of the ninety- nine full-time faculty members of the college should at least submit a study case to National Science Council (NSC) or other research institutes per year and each student should submit a report for each course per semester.

Tamkang University (TKU) President Dr. Chang Horng-jinh instructed Colleges of Sciences and of Engineering to integrate the instruments and equipments held by their departments and graduate institutes. He said that the school authorities would purchase the large-scale integral instruments this year in principle so as to hoist the using efficiency of laboratory equipments and promote the academic study.
