The 15th Pop Dance Club End-of-Semester Dance Display

On the 29th May, the TKU Pop Dance Club held its 15th End-of-Semester Dance Display. The show was the culmination of the continued practice and honing of dance skills by club members over the past year. The club also invited dance societies from other well-known universities, as well as renowned professional dance groups, including Lumi All Star, Merry Monarc, and Booty Pop.

The 3rd Carrie Chang Calligraphy Competition

The award ceremony for the 3rd Annual Carrie Chang Calligraphy Competition was held on June 1st at the Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center. One TKU faculty member who helped present the awards was the Chairman of the Department of Chinese, Dr. Shung-in Chang. He noted that the scale of the competition has grown each year, and expressed his delight that TKU students have truly taken the event to heart.

Garbed in Retro to Show Gratitude

Last month, the Chinese palace-style classrooms that border the Chueh-Sheng Chinese Gardens were home to the 13th Department of Information and Communication End-of-Semester Dance Party. The party was organized entirely by department freshmen. It was their way of saying ‘thanks’ to the second, third, and fourth year students who had looked after them when they had first arrived.

Last Tuesday, the TKU Wind Ensemble Club and String-Instrument Club jointly held an end-of-semester performance. The clubs each played seven musical pieces, including four musical solos performed by members of the Wind Ensemble Club. The club leader, second year Industrial Economics student Chung Jin-feng, asserted that “each year, we organize for our soon-to-be-graduating 4th year members to deliver concertos. It’s become somewhat of a tradition”.

The Drama Club End-of-Semester Stage Performance

The TKU Drama Club recently held a series of stage plays to showcase the fruits of their hard work throughout the semester.

An Exhibition to Touch the Heart

The TKU Department of Japanese recently held its 3rd Annual Graduate Film Exhibition. The films were produced by fourth year students who will soon be graduating, while the content of the films included issues that students encounter in their everyday lives.

TKU Takes Part in Friendly Tennis Tournament

Last month, on the 28th, the TKU Women’s tennis team went to Xiamen, Mainland China and then Hong Kong to participate in a series of friendly tennis tournaments.

In 2008, Tamkang University became the first university in the world to be recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an International Safe School.

The 119th TKU Administrative Conference

This year’s TKU Administrative Conference was held on the 1st June at the Ching Sheng International Conference Hall. Several draft resolutions were passed during the conference, including those relating to the naming of organizations and the formulation of draft budgets. The conference also featured a keynote speech from the General Manager of the NTU Innovation Incubation Center, Michael Lin, who shared his experience in promoting cooperation between academia and industry.

TKU Strengthens Friendship with US Partners

In the recent TKU visit to America, the President of TKU, Dr. Flora Chia-I Chang, led a delegation of senior TKU faculty and staff to visit a total of four TKU partner universities in America. These partner universities included San Francisco State University (SFSU, which honored President Chang by naming her ‘Alumna of the Year’), California State University-Sacramento, Temple University, and the University of Maryland.
